She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanians Anesa Laxha as well as Dukagjin lipa. By way of her maternal grandparent Dua Lipa, she is Bosnian. Additionally, her ancestors are from the Kosovo town Peja. Lipa's grand-fathers were both history professors. Gjin along with Rina are her sisters. Her musical inspirations come from her father who was the guitarist and singer of the Kosovan The rock band Oda.
