Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is an American and Canadian musician and singer. She has produced many studio records. DiFranco categorizes her music as folk-rock or alternative, but it also contains influences such as punk, hip-hop and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement, and was among the first musicians to launch her own record label in the year 1990. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September 1970 in Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who was introduced to Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian heritage, while her mother hails from Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and sang the song "32 Flavors". The track is available on the sixth album Not a Pretty Girl by Ani diFranco. It was released in 1996. A variation of the track is included on the film soundtrack for 1999's Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco has since apologized when it was revealed that she had planned to host a 3-day workshop on a Louisiana former plantation for slaves. The event was cancelled However, some (including the newspaper) didn't think it was a sign of regret. DiFranco released a new apology a few days later. While she has been known for her role as the Little Folksinger her music spans many kinds of genres and collaborates from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. She lives in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is married to Kristen Ford. In 14 years she began writing her songs. The teens she was in were singing them in pubs and cafes. DiFranco was a graduate of her Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school in the year 16 and began attending classes at Buffalo State College. The baritone of Ani is a custom Alvarez guitar, which was designed after several meetings with Chrys the Alvarez representative of the artist at the time. It has their System 600 preamp and has the entire solid woods: a top made of cedar, mahogany on the back, sides and an ebony fretboard. The home she lives in is New Orleans. There she lives with her husband, kids and her long-legged sidekick Lefty. DiFranco is admitting that, three decades after her debut in music, she still has mixed feelings when looking back. Ani DiFranco, writer and musician from the punk/folk genre, was 25 years old at the time she dropped her 7th album Not A Pretty Girl and achieved even more success in the world of public opinion by releasing Dilate. The song, a pop rock hit from 1972 (You're a fine girl) was composed by the American group Looking Glass for their debut album Looking Glass.
